Community & School
Collaboration (C&SC) was created in 1998 in response to the growing need for
assistance to families in our Orange County public schools. Since its beginning,
C&SC has worked with thousands of children and their families.
Our programs focus on prevention
measures for children at risk and their families. Beginning with children as
young as pre-school, we develop strong family involvement with the children and
their schools, and early identification of behavioral problems. Our goal is to
create a model program for children at risk.
Our Families And Schools
Together (FAST) programs are currently in place in Title 1 elementary schools.
We plan to serve three Title 1 schools within three years.
Title 1 Schools are defined as schools where at least 40 percent of the children
in the school attendance area are from low-income families or at least 40
percent of the student enrollment are from low-income families are eligible to
receive federal Title I funds. No Child Left Behind requires all districts and
schools receiving Title I funds to meet state "adequate yearly
progress" (AYP) goals for their total student populations and for specified
demographic subgroups. C&SC has received endorsement and support the last
year from a variety of sources including Orange County United Way, Orange County
Community Foundation, and Southern California Edison. CSC has also been awarded
state funding for its Early Learning Center through the Children and Families
Commission of Orange County.
